STRUCTURE MATTERS! And Joints Count.
STRUCTURE MATTERS! And Joints Count.
“Through unwinding your own restrictions patiently and methodically, you befriend yourself, and confidently learn the art of self-repair.” – y pritam hari
Our joints are built to roll and slide in their sockets, where the bones connect and fold. Consider the ease of movement in a healthy shoulder, finger, or hip. When we maintain or restore alignment, slide and roll, our bodies become more stable, and our joints stay healthy, lubricated, and strong.
Culture today is entrenched with linear, weight-bearing movements, which positionally grind away at our joints over time. Imagine a weight-lifting demonstration, and notice how there’s less articulation (free movement) with increased muscle mass. It’s “Bend, straighten, bend straighten” or “Up, down, up, down”…right? This puts repetitive strain on joint capsules and their surrounding structures, and degeneration subtly begins. We tend cultivate these same linear movement patterns in daily life.
These restricted patterns can take years to perceive as problems, and by then, most people feel resigned to surgery and drugs as the only possible relief. Then follows a physical therapy or rehab protocol focused on linear movements to build strength. For many of my clients, this popular approach has had lasting adverse effects.
I love using Bodywork as a direct power boost – and a catalyst for deep healing – however, a daily practice of Structural Yoga completely repatterns our movement and neurophysiology over time.
STRUCTURE MATTERS ™ programs train focus, and re-educate bodies through direct experience. The average human attention span is down to 8 seconds, and technology addiction will render every brain it nabs into a nervous flighty little bird, always twittering and flitting away.
BY MEDITATING ACTIVELY WITH AND INSIDE OUR BODIES, WE HEAL OURSELVES OF THIS FUNDAMENTAL CULTURAL ANXIETY, AND DEEPEN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH ALL LIFE.
Caring for our body alignment in this conscious and proactive way is a radical act of revolution in these times. Nature does not seek to provide us instant gratification and summer roses in winter’s snow; nor does she dissolve longterm injury in a New York minute. Nature instead moves in spirals, cycles, and waves. Without a doubt, STRUCTURE MATTERS (™) a lot. Misalignments cost us life force, yet self-adjustment is possible, and more accessible than you think!
